We are already in the midst of a global society. A "first ever" in history that is – and will increasingly – undermine traditional
models, philosophies, mindsets, religions and "groups". Everyone will be involved in a huge "melting pot" that will in turn
produce other models, philosophies of a kind entirely unknown before today and, perhaps, unthinkable until yesterday.
But
since we are now faced with that "melting pot", we can add to and/or take from it new horizons, in terms of what we believe
and how we live at this moment in history. The first task is Dialogue. Next the principle of Krasis. Last the rule of Openness.
Three vectors that the Il Sextante (the publishers of L'Eco delle Dolomiti – The Echo of the Dolomites) tries to recognise, keep
in mind, incorporate, promote and make its own. And this is the message that leaps from the pages of L'Eco delle
Dolomiti."Interculture", understood as an opportunity for encounters and dialogue between different cultures, has become a
necessity. Necessary, firstly, because of the world's increasingly multicultural nature which, despite the inroads of
fundamentalism, rigid regimes and closed attitudes, is an becoming an ever-growing mixture of cultures, a crucible where
everything is stirred together and amalgamates, a massive cauldron where races, cultures, traditions, ideas, religions,
customs and practices, cuisines and languages merge into inseparable and (one hopes) accepting cohabitation. |
